Fifty-five Plus Club
The Club was founded in the late 1980′s by Hartlip resident Dennis Lansdowne, who recognised the need for a social outlet for the senior citizens of this small village and the surrounding area.
The Club was very soon fully subscribed and has remained so ever since, there very often being a waiting list for membership.
Meetings are held in the Village Hall on alternate Monday evenings with speakers on a variety of subjects and “business” meetings to arrange the Club outings, holidays and larger social occasions.
The Club organises two holidays a year in Spring and Autumn, one coach outing a month between March and November and various other activities such as a Summer Garden Party and a Christmas Dinner at the local Golf Club.
The Club is now organised by Chairman Mr Dave Elliot.

This is not a class but an opportunity to come along and learn something new and make new friends. The aim is to have people with different crafty experience who can pass on ideas or start you off on a craft you have never tried before. Just come along and bring your knitting, crochet, sewing, patchwork, quilting or any other craft.

Living Lively / The Hart Beats
The Hart Beats is a weekly singing group for people over 50 which meets in Hartlip Village Hall on a Friday afternoon from 2:00pm – 3:30pm. The group is an informal and enjoyable way for people to sing and improve their singing in a relaxed environment.
Sessions are led by a professional musician and include a wide range of music. Sessions start with warm up and vocal exercises and are followed by songs covering many different styles and genres. All sessions include refreshments both as a break from singing and as an opportunity to chat to people in the group.
We meet in 12-week terms and are always looking for new members. You do not need any previous experience of singing and do not need to be able to read music, in fact most of our members walked through the door with the line ‘I can’t sing’.
Please do come along and try a session, we look forward to meeting you.
